"Baptisam of Fire"

The West Coast Trojans Junior Team took to the field for their first ever games on Saturday the 19th May in the Fife Fire Junior Tournament. Putting on the hat of a tabloid journalist it must be said that theirs was a ‘Baptism of Fire’ but the team came out of it with a greater understanding of what it will take to become the best in Junior football. The Trojans inaugural game was against the home team of Fife Fire. Despite some nerves the team put in a great performance – they lost four touchdowns in the first half, scoring just the one themselves but came out in the second half and recorded two TD's to their opponents one. Final score: Fife Fire 44 WCT 19 Next up were the undefeated so far this season, Inverness Wildcats. The Wildcats used every play in their arsenal to run out 43-6 winners. The Trojans then played the 3rd place team from Group A – the Northern Wildcats. This was a much closer game with the Trojans leading from the start. It all came down to a controversial call on the last play of the game, which snatched a deserved victory from the West Coast team. The Trojans lost 28-25 Glasgow Tigers went on to beat the Inverness Wildcats in the Final. The standard of play in this tournament was great, with some of the hardest tackling I have seen in any form of tackle football in Scotland. The Junior Trojans have a lot of learning to do but with perseverance and hard work they will achieve their goals.
